Movistar and City Tourism Department submitted digital community project in Latin America

Telefonica Mexico, through its brand name Movistar, and the Ministry of Tourism of Mexico City, presented the Digital Community Project in Latin America, which aims to promote that cities are modern urban environments with business spaces in which the sector public companies from different sectors to establish partnerships to deliver fully integrated solutions, high standards of efficiency for the benefit of citizens.

The concept of Digital Community, does not stay in the vision of technology providers, but involves all members of different communities who participate in creating their own environments efficient and integrated in the city, an aspect which means answers and immediate solutions to specific problems and specific businesses and citizens, with an enormous saving of time, said Carlos Mackinlay, Secretary of Tourism of the Federal District.

Served with Mexican officials GATHER, Telefonica Mexico and Indra Mexico announced the launch of this project to be held in Mexico City and will be presented from 1 to 6 October 2012, at Centro Banamex.

The project has the support of the Federal District Government, promoting the City of Mexico is home to create the first real demo of a digital community in the region, with the participation of specialized companies in all sectors: urban planning specialists in construction of residential areas, schools, hospitals, telecommunications firms, IT, government entities and others.

“Digital Community is a place of business where, for the first time, companies from different sectors to establish partnerships to create fully integrated solutions for building modern urban environments with high efficiency standards for citizenship,” said CEO ACCESS Mexican Enrique Ruz.

Space will be put into operation in a real demo, all components for building a digital city, with aspects of health, education, sports, entertainment, culture, security, housing developments and government services, among others.

Mexico was selected as the first country in Latin America for the development of Digital Community, for advancing their local projects as developed in the Federal District, Jalisco and Queretaro, among others, and have the basic technological infrastructure for start of projects and accelerate their development.
