Miami hosts the Florida Grand Opera, the New World Symphony, and the Jackie Gleason Theater of Performing Arts; therefore the city’s cultural life is latent. Cultural Events
The Art Deco Weekend (website: http://www.artdecoweekend.com/) is an annual festival dedicated to the conservation of this style and is the largest in the world. Held in January, and has an extensive program of street theater, concerts of great bands and parades in South Beach. The Miami International Film Festival (website: http://www.maimifilmfestival.com/) is a 10-day festival (February), which shows films and videos of American and international directors, focusing particularly on Latin American cinema and independent film. The Miami Book Fair International (website: http://www.miamibookfair.com/) takes place in mid-November until Thanksgiving Day, and are usually nocturnal readings, seminars and conferences with major authors and as holding a book fair.
Music
