Hiking in Patagonia

Hiking in Patagonia

Recently, the path of adventure (and sport) in southern Chile, known as the Aysen Glacier Trail, has been named among the finest in the world.
The circuit trekking from Puerto Bertrand is for many one of the best adventures to undertake in Patagonia, crossing desolate and stunning landscapes, with huge glaciers and ice fields, in an area that has rarely been explored.  So much so that even some mysteries of the region make to lose sleep to scientists that try to investigate the reasons for the disappearance of a lake with millions of gallons of water as if it had “evaporated overnight”.
But aside the scientific dilemmas, any tourists in minimal physical conditions, may be added to itineraries of adventure tourism companies with specialized guides. The landscapes will happen day to day with a variety and beauty that will leave us speechless: the northern ice field, meadows, forests, valleys, and every night, a stop at campgrounds or shelters to rest from long walks. The sunsets, when the sun appears to stand them off with the magical colors of the glaciers are unrepeatable elsewhere.
Throughout the trip we will accompany by cold, and of course our own luggage, so that personal effort is the rule. But it is rewarded with large meals and unforgettable landscapes: the Nef glacier, Lake Colony, streams Hoop Earrings, Laguna Mirrors. The company that takes care of the adventures in the Aysen Glacier Trail circuit is Patagonia Adventure Expedition, led by Jonathan Leidich, a kind of legendary explorer and character of the region. It is an intense way to get into Patagonia more authentic, yet one that is accessible only on our own steps and personal effort.
