Also “La Carita de Dios” as is known, has the ability to move us with its landscapes, its history, its traditions and diversity. Places of mass appeal as a monument to the Mid-World. Itchimbia Cultural Center

It consists of a steel and glass structure of the nineteenth century, which was originally the Santa Clara market. The cultural center is fantastic space for a variety of exhibits and events.

In the twenties, the famous Ecuadorian archaeologist Jacinto Caamaño Jijon, revealed a tomb where they found eight decorative nose rings (two of them in gold).  In view of its importance, in 1997 the city of Quito, under the auspices of the Rescue Fund for Cultural Heritage, began a project to rescue the side of Itchimbia and reaffirm its importance. He moved to Santa Clara old market this site and changes its use to manage it as a cultural exhibition. The structure was originally imported from Hamburg in 1889.
